Richard, you were always "Dick" to us at the Post Office/BT. I first encountered you as an Apprentice Mechanic when you were Lecturer on the Electrical Faults Course at Stone, in the old wooden huts before the proper place was built. You were great at explaining how things worked. Little did I know that in 1981, I'd be joining you in "Midlands Telecomms. Region" as a fellow Manager. I was young and apprehensive, but you were just brilliant as a supportive peer. You always had a way of laughing at the world, whatever it threw at you, and I always think of you as one of the gentlest and kindest people I've known. I'm so sorry you've gone before I could get back in touch; I'm amazed by your skill as an artist (I never knew you had such a talent), and feel genuinely privileged to have known you. Rest in peace. Jim
